Absolutely speechless

…and can't stop talking about it

I decided that I really should try to have a more photogenic photo for today’s December Photo Project.

And the dog needed a walk/more exercise/a specified time outside. (He had an accident yesterday. In the house. Argh. He hasn’t done that in forever. :( At least it was on the wood floor and not the carpet.)

So before I started into today’s unpacking and organizing, we took a stroll behind our house.

When we bought the house, one of the things that I was excited about was the lack of turf in the yard, i.e., no mowing. It’s a fairly small lot, and no turf grass exists on it.

Matt, however, was a bit disappointed to hear it. I suppose that it would be a little disappointing, not to have any space to throw the football around or whatever.

However, in talking with the neighbor, we found out an interesting fact: the 9 holes of the golf course behind our house are currently not in use, due to the downturn in the economy (couldn’t maintain them). So, in essence, we have a whole lotta green space behind us–to play in, walk and run around in, whatever.

And it also means there is a convenient, paved walking path (unused golf cart path) that we can use, too! I think it is about 2 miles if you go all the way around. Theo and I opted not to do the entire thing today. But we will. Someday soon.

I offer up a variety of images from our walk, with limited commentary. :)

I keep thinking about what my friends with actual photographic skills could do out here. (Jen, bring your macro lens when you come to visit!)

Okay, I’ll be quiet now.

At the top of the hill, around the bend, we came to the driving range (which is closed for the season). Beautiful. (Never thought I would say that about a driving range…)

And, for those of you who enjoy a different kind of beauty as well, may I present our closet, which I worked on after the walk, for the rest of the morning. (I even tried to organize my tops by ROYBGIV. Or is it ROYGBIV?? Obviously, I didn’t do it correctly. Anyway, the colors are with their friends.)

This may not look like much of an accomplishment. I forgot to take a “before” photo. But trust me. It is. :) The carpet was virtually unseeable before.

And now I know that a) we have enough underwear to last a few more days, and b) socks are becoming scarce. Come on, washer man. You’d better come through for me tomorrow!
